Since joining SP UK as a psychology graduate in 2013 and co-founding SP North America the following year, my focus has been on growing a sustainable business and creating rewarding careers for our people. Having learned some tough lessons building the team and infrastructure in Boston, in 2017, I moved coast-to-coast to launch our Los Angeles office. Now with a group over 20 Consultants throughout the US, my focus in on international expansion, co-founding SP Canada in 2022 and researching prospective markets around the world.

It has been tremendously rewarding to have hired, mentored, and learned from a diverse and inspiring group of individuals who push each other to be better each day, whilst standing on the shoulders of great leaders who have supported my advancement. This dynamic and fast-moving business has operations stretching from Whangarei to Invercargill. Reporting to the National Health and Safety Manager, we’re on the hunt for two highly motivated and experienced individuals to take the business onto the next step of their safety journey.Having previously worked in a high-risk environment, you’ll be a proven change agent, able to lead people and drive engagement. Ideally based in Hamilton, we can also consider applications from Christchurch, Auckland or Palmerston North. The role will require frequent national travel, as you build relationships with operational leaders and site teams.Suitable candidates must have the right to work in New Zealand already in place.Key responsibilities: Partner with local sites and national operations to provide expert HSE advice and guidanceDrive best practice through close collaboration and engagement with operationsProvide a level of assurance, ensuring HSWA compliance, ISO retention and ACC certificationMentor, support and train colleagues at all levels of the businessWork with the National Health and Safety Manager and H&S team to deliver the business wide safety plan, vision and goalsReview and monitor the development and implementation of site-level H&S Plans and KPIs, ensuring alignment to the broader group goalsEngage with the Regulator to build a robust and positive relationshipImplement and maintain effective reporting systems/processesIdentify H&S trends developing effective controls and remedial actionsRegular travel to sites throughout the country The HS Business Partner will have:  5-10 years’ experience in Health and Safety with exposure to high-risk sectorsA pragmatic and modern approach to H&S ManagementOutcome focused - able to drive changeCulturally aware and sensitive. This will be a permanent, full time position, and candidates will need to be based within a commutable distance to one of the following sites - Newcastle, NSW / Colongra, NSW / Laverton, VIC / Traralgon, VIC. While travel to site will be required for this role, working from home will also be available with flexibility to manage your own diary. This is a site based position and would suit a candidate with prior Health and Safety experience, ideally in a manufacturing or relatable sector.
