Shirley Parsons have exclusively partnered with one of Australia's largest property development and construction companies, to appoint a Director of Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) for the Development arm of their business. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join a market-leading company with an extensive pipeline of projects across Australia. This will be a strategic role with the successful incumbent having a background both working on the client side of major projects and having on-site construction experience for build projects. This is a Sydney-based role with some ad-hoc regional travel required. 

The Director of Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) will be responsible for:

  • Acting as an executive presence for the Development team, working with Project Directors and Managers to ensure effective Risk management and Assurance across major projects
  • Working with Principal Contractors and Subcontractors to ensure appropriate HSE accountability for the Development team and to ensure the correct HSE behaviours are driven on-site by engaging and influencing site teams
  • Leading a team of regional HSE professionals and pro-actively driving Health and Safety performance and initiatives across all levels of the Development business
  • Building a robust partnership between the Development and Construction arms of the business to drive a positive Safety culture company-wide and use forward-thinking ideas to guide and influence at all levels


The Director of Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) will have:

  • Experience in Health and Safety at a Senior level working 'client side' on major build and infrastructure projects
  • Experience working at an executive level in HSE, reporting at board level, and working as part of the Senior Leadership Team
  • Construction/Build experience within Health and Safety and a technical knowledge of Construction Safety at site level
  • Previous experience working in Australia on Construction/Build projects
  • Relevant qualifications in Health and Safety such as Diploma/Bachelors
  • Full Right to Work in Australia already in place
