Shirley Parsons have partnered with an industry leading Logistics, Transport and Warehousing company who are looking to appoint a Health and Safety Advisor. Based in Palmerston North, this will be a hands-on Health and Safety position, with travel across a range of sites. Sat within a central Health and Safety team, this position would suit a candidate with a good base level of Health and Safety experience looking to take the next step in their career. Driven by innovation and development, the business have a range of facilities across Aotearoa.

The Health and Safety Advisor will be responsible for:

  • Driving Safety initiatives to promote a strong Health and Safety working culture
  • A visible presence on site, leading worker engagement
  • Conducting site visits and liaising with staff to create safety actions and objectives
  • Developing and delivering Health and Safety training and creating communications to be shared across the workforce
  • Applying a risk-based approach to sites, helping to drive the company wide safety plans and emphasise hazard identification and mitigation
  • Leading or assisting with Health and Safety investigations

The Health and Safety Advisor will have:

  • 2 + years Health and Safety experience in a relevant high-risk sector. Transport or Logistics experience highly desirable
  • A minimum Level IV qualification in Occupational Health and Safety
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence key stakeholders at all levels
  • A full driving licence and the flexibility to travel to sites with occasional overnight stays
  • Working knowledge of ICAM and BowTie methodology would be preferred but not essential
