Shirley Parsons have an exciting opportunity for a Health and Safety Advisor to join an esteemed commercial construction business in Auckland, New Zealand. This position is currently at interview stages, so please submit your up-to-date CV as soon as possible to be considered.

You will initially be working on a high-profile project, with up to 600 personnel on-site and a central location in Dunedin. As a Health and Safety Advisor, you'll promote a proactive safety culture, implement HSE initiatives, and ensure compliance with legislation.


The Health and Safety Advisor will be responsible for:

  • Implement safety procedures and mentor junior staff.
  • Lead incident investigations and emergency planning, identify hazards and conduct audits.
  • Demonstrate autonomy, self-sufficiency, and resilience in a dynamic construction environment.
  • Monitor and enforce safety regulations, ensuring all personnel adhere to best practices.
  • Support Regional HSE Manager/National HSEQ Manager.


The Health and Safety Advisor will have:

  • Experience in training and presenting ideas and procedures to staff.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Strong understanding of construction safety standards and regulations.
  • Initiative, analytical thinking, and effective communication.
  • Character, confidence, and the ability to handle challenging situations.
  • Resilience and adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced construction setting.
  • 2-3 years of HSE advisory experience in construction or civils.
