Shirley Parsons have partnered with highly regarded logistics company in Auckland who are looking for a Senior Safety & Wellbeing Business Partner at Management level to join their team.

People are recognised as the company's biggest asset, with the organisation employing more than 750 staff over a diverse range departments, such as Multi-Cargo (vehicles, bulk, Pacific trade), Engineering, Container Terminal Operations, Marine and Main Office support.

The role is operational and reports to the Head of Safety and Wellbeing and will include mentoring of two direct reports at Advisor level. You will also gain experience by acting in the 'Head of' role when your Manager is away.

You will play a pivotal role in the implementation of strategy, leading a culture change, and building on the relationships of all stakeholders on site.

The Senior Safety & Wellbeing Business Partner will be responsible for:

  • Collaborate with the Head of Safety and Wellbeing, along with other business units to formulate and execute the Safety Strategy and Annual Safety Plans.
  • Work closely with senior management, fostering a proactive and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in Risk Management, particularly in critical risk areas, providing support and guidance.
  • Manage Contractors, ensuring robust systems for management, information, instruction, training, and supervision.
  • Spearhead Emergency Management efforts, consistently reviewing and implementing improvements.
  • Demonstrate proactive leadership in Safety and Wellbeing, including team management.
  • Oversee and support investigations of significant incidents.

The Senior Safety & Wellbeing Business Partner will have:

  • Extensive experience working in dynamic and complex high-risk environments (aviation, construction, ports, oil & gas, aviation etc).
  • A relevant tertiary qualification (Level 7 preferred).
  • ICAM certification.
  • Critical risk management/assessment experience.
  • Injury prevention/rehabilitation/Return to Work.
  • Have practical experience working within wellbeing frameworks.
  • Lead investigator experience.
  • Experience in mentoring direct reports
